Incident Details:We are currently experiencing broadband service disruptions affecting customers in the Faroe, Shetland, and Orkney Islands. This issue is the result of damage to a subsea cable between Banff and Orkney, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Impact:
Voice services remain unaffected; however, broadband connectivity may be slow or unavailable for some customers in the affected areas.
Cause:
Damage to the subsea "Shefa-2" cable.
Next Steps:
The cable owner is actively working to repair the damage. Please note that adverse weather conditions could influence repair timelines.

Following further investigations over the weekend, Openreach has determined that approximately 400 services are affected—significantly fewer than the 10,400 initially estimated. Repairs to the Shefa-2 cable are underway, with the current estimated completion date set for 4 August 2025.
